Capturing the latest developments in near infrared (NIR) analysis, the NIRS DA1650 analyser gives flour millers a robust, purpose-built quality control tool, ready-to-use for many flour types and with future-proof features for a lasting return on investment.

It is ISO 12099 compliant and IP65 certified to withstand dust and moisture. It is ideal for accurate routine analysis either in the laboratory or close to the production line.

Artificial Neural network(ANN)

Ready today, ready tomorrow

Because your new NIRS DA1650 Flour analyser comes pre-calibated, you can get straight down to work with no additional costs.
Global Artificial Neural Network (ANN) calibrations cover a broad variety of flour types and ingredients. Results for key parameters such as protein, moisture and ash are delivered simultaneously in seconds to an accuracy matching reference analysis. The DA1650 Flour analyser is a highly stable unit that is ready to use from day one. Multiple instruments can easily use the same calibrations without any modifications.

What makes the NIRS DA1650 ready to use, from day one?

  • No wavelength calibration is required
  • There are no moving parts in the DDA platform: light is measured simultaneously on an array of detectors, making it a robust, reliable and low-maintenance platform
  • The DDA platform proves to be very stable in transport & harsh environments
  • Simplicity in the availability of a user-friendly software platform - the NIRS DA1650 is run by easy-to- use ISIscan NOVA software using an integrated touch screen.

Simplicity in transfer of calibrations to future instruments or process instruments

  • Calibrations used are fully transferable, without loss of accuracy between units so if you want to expand your operation with more analysers, it’s is a simple task
  • NIRS DA 1650 is also compatible with our ProFoss solution, making it simple and the ideal solution for calibration enhancement for online applications

What’s your wavelength?

How to choose the right NIR technology

The NIRS DA1650 is a Diode array (DDA) based NIR reflectance and transflectance analyser with a scanning range of 1100 – 1650 nm. Beyond 1650nm, DDA technology becomes quite unreliable. That is why we chose to limit the wavelength range of the NIRS DA1650 to a maximum of 1650nm, and because we also know that going beyond 1650nm will not have a dramatic impact on your results accuracy and repeatability.

The wavelength gives accurate results for standard parameters such as protein and moisture and ash. If however, you want to achieve the ultimate in measurement of ash, consider also the NIRS DS2500 Flour analyser, see here. This operates on a broader wavelength using monochromator technology giving great results for ash and specialty parameters such as colour.

Practical DDA technology

DDA technology is highly practical and low maintenance, for example, changing the lamp used in the instrument does not require any intensity correction. The NIRS DA1650 also provides internal standards in order to automatically control the stability of the spectrometer with time, which makes this instruments very low maintenance overall.

Calibrations can also be transferred to a process control solution such as ProFoss also based on DDA.

Beyond routine analysis, the ISIscan NOVA routine operation software also includes a number of features for smooth operations, such as remote instrument monitoring and set up with MOSAIC, online help and on-board instrument drift detection and correction.

IP65 certified and ISO compliant

The NIRS DA1650 has been built for specific use in the harshest production conditions at the most remote sites. IP65 certified, it withstands humidity, dust, vibrations and temperature fluctuations. You can also be sure that you are following ISO 12099 guidelines for the application of near infrared spectrometry.

This high level of solidity makes the NIRS DA1650 suitable for at-line use by anyone in any production plant around the world.

Following ISO 12099 guidelines

Ambient temperature 5-40 °C
Storage temperature -20 °C to 70 °C
Ambient humidity <93% RH

Features contributing to this include:

  • The use of borosilicate glass in the sample cup, where a disc is cut from a high quality glass rod and polished for a uniform thickness and finish
  • A bottom-up light source that avoids any false results due to the formation of moisture on the surface of the sample
  • Internal Wavelength reference protected from environment and temperature variations by a BK7 glass.

Steady as a rock

Measurements with the NIRS DA1600 take less than a minute and the instrument is rock solid even when subjected to conditions of damp, dust, vibrations or temperature fluctuations.

A number of features contribute:

  • NIRS DA1650 does not use any moving parts
  • DDA technology is ideal for the required task and is very low maintenance with no moving parts. Light is measured simultaneously on an array of detectors, making it a robust, reliable and low-maintenance platform. The DDA platform is very stable in transport and harsh environments
  • Internal components are protected from environment and temperature variations by a BK7 glass.
  • Borosilicate glass where a disc is cut from a high quality glass rod and polished for a uniform thickness and finish, used throughout

In addition, the NIRS DA1650 has been extensively tested for performance regardless of rapid changes in temperature and humidity.

Mosaic

A true networker

The NIRS DA1650 is ideal for use in a group of instruments. Factory standardized instruments gives you top data transferability, which helps when sharing calibrations. This makes the NIRS DA1650 a perfect unit to include in a network of instruments where calibration updates and monitoring are controlled centrally.

Factory standardised instruments for stability over time and instrument networking

Instruments are factory standardised for quick implementation and the use of ready-made calibrations. Instrument Standardisation produces a mathematical adjustment which causes the spectra collected on a standardised instrument to match the spectra collected on the Master instrument.

Furthermore, once an instrument has been taken into use, in-built measurement standards help to control its performance to ensure that no deviations occur over time. This keeps continuous control of consistency between instruments and makes it easy to add any new instruments to your operation. Multiple instruments can easily use the same calibrations without any modifications, and can hence be networked as a group of instruments for improved stability and control from a central location.
