Infratec™ Sofia on-farm grain analyser

Eliminate uncertainty at harvest time

The easy to use, fully portable Infratec™Sofia whole grain analyser measures moisture, protein and oil in the field.  Calibrations are based on those of the trade-approved Infratec™1241 Grain Analyzer, used exclusively by bulk handlers at receival.  With grain analysis directly in the field you can gain accurate and quick knowledge of your crop, and be confident it will match results at receival.

Mobile measurements for smarter receival

Built for on-farm use

Mobile and robust, Infratec Sofia goes wherever you need it, making it an ideal solution for a busy harvest operation.

Anyone can make a valid measurement. It uses less than half a litre of grain per test and no grinding or sample preparation is required - the test sample can be returned to the load.

easy to useInfratec Sofia is a rugged, simple-to-use and accurate grain analyser. It is based on near infrared (NIR) spectroscopy, a field in which FOSS has vast experience and knowledge. Applying this know–how, Infratec Sofia has been specially designed for mobility and operation in harsh conditions.

Measurements are simple to perform and results are delivered in less than three minutes. The mobile analyser runs either on 240VAC, 12VDC or 110VAC power supplies, which means you can easily plug it into the cigarette lighter plug or power outlet of a vehicle, even the header. No grinding or sample preparation is required.

The result is clearly displayed after each measurment.

Realise the true value of your crop

Another load goes into the chaser bin during a busy harvest – but what is it really worth and what should you do with it?

With smart, on-the-spot grain analysis, you can know exactly what you've got and make critical grain handling decisions to improve the overall value of your grain. Studies indicate that smart blending of grain according to specific market requirements can realise over $50,000 in a single season.

Here’s an example of how the accuracy can quickly repay investment.

Always worth it

Prices and premiums are always changing, but no matter how volatile variations become, it is always worth testing and segregating grain. Here’s an example for wheat:

No segregation

7000 tonnes @ average protein 11.9% (H2 @ $210.00 per mt)
7000 x $210 = $1,470,000

Testing and Segregation

5950 tonnes @ average protein 11.7% (H2 @ $210.00 per mt)
1050 tonnes @ average protein 13.3% (H1 @ $230.00 per mt)

5950 x $210 = $1,249,500
1050 x $230 = $241,500

Total $1,491,000

Additional Revenue $21,000

Moisture testing can be a challenge.  Getting results that line up consistently with receival is always difficult, and the consequences of getting it wrong can be costly.

During the development of the Infratec™ Sofia, we spoke to many growers around Australia.  Regarding moisture measurement the message was consistent: "We've got enough moisture meters in the cupboard that don't work. We don't need another one".

By aligning the Infratec Sofia with the results of the Infratec™ 1241 grain analyser used by the bulk handlers, you can be sure that the results you see in teh paddock are what you will see at receival.

The best price for your harvest

With Infratec™ Sofia you get immediate grain analysis results which allows for segregating and blending to specific grades.  This lets you match market demands and get the best possible price for your crop.

A reliable partner in grain analysis

Infratec™ Sofia is fully aligned and calibrated against the Infratec™ 1241 analyser that is approved for trade in Australia. All Australian bulk handlers use the Infratec™ 1241 for grain receival.

Pre-calibrated; Easy to update

Infratec Sofia™ is pre-calibrated for protein and moisture measurements in wheat and barley.  Other available calibrations can be added at the time of ordering, or easily added at a later date by the user.

Portable analysis

rInfratec™ Sofia is ready to use wherever you are - in the header, in the ute, or just in the shed. Developed primarily for the Australian market, Sofia is built to withstand hot, dusty harvest environments with no effect on result accuracy or reliability.
